Gufa Glossary
  • Gufalumnus/Gufalumni - Past male participant/participants of Media Gufa (added on 9 September, 2014)
  • Gufalumna/Gufalumnae - Past female participant/participants of Media Gufa (added on 9 September, 2014)
  • Cave dweller - Participant of Gufa event
  • Bat - A Gufa participant fully acclimatized with the New Media Gufa environments, can move or fly around with impressive speed and accuracy like that of a bat in a cave
  • The First Five - - Pioneering cavers (Rajneesh Bhandari, Keshav Koirala, Guna Raj Luitel, Arun Rai, and Binu Subedi) who bravely took up the challenge to explore the uncharted terretories of new media pratices in Nepal!
  • Newscave - Another name for mediacave, but more focused on the news and journalism
  • Mediacave - Gufa, the lab where the actual experiments/explorations on media take place
  • Lion - Gufa participant since he/she lives inside a den as a lion does
  • Guphobia - A fear of being inside the Media Gufa, derived from claustrophobia
  • Guflet - Mini gufa-like session, lasting several hours or a day
  • Gufe - Tech-savvy journalist/media user/prosumer in action inside the Gufa or the one who believes in the “ideology” of practical application and research on new media
  • Gufavatar - New manifestations of New Media Gufa; a fully transformed Gufa participant demonstrating incredible professional skills and insights or leadership as a result of participation; a person who emulates the virtues of the Gufa bats or gufalorers
  • Gufarchitect - People behind the event, more specifically the organizers/director
  • Gufa style - Rules regarding language usage, mechanics, story organization, formatting and other norms that govern the Gufa process
  • Gufalorer - Generally, a participant of New Media Gufa, but specifically a member of the research team
  • Cave explorer - Researcher observing and recording the event
  • Caver - Another term for cave dweller
  • Cub - Gufa dweller trying to adjust to the new climes; also a visiting child of a cave dweller
  • Den - Individual sleeping/living space of the Gufa dweller away from the main cave area
  • Gubseiling - Digging deeper in research and reporting while at the Gufa (derived from “abseiling”, descending down a cliff or steep slope in a Gufa on a rope)
  • Gufa Guru - Director of the New Media Gufa (Dharma Adhikari)
  • Gufaizing/gufaized media - Media (being) subjected to rigorous source and content verification
  • The Invisible Hound - The anonymous Blogdai, one of the main supporters of the event. You can hear him, but you can almost never see him. A pun on The Invisible Hand. A hound is “man’s best friend”; and  woman’s too. Hound is also someone who doggedly pursues truth
